3 Tricks to Make Your Face Makeup Last All Day

While lipsticks and eyeliners can easily be reapplied throughout the day, face makeup is another story. Basically, you want your face makeup to outlast any other product since it acts as the backdrop for everything else. The trick is understanding which products to use and, more importantly, how to apply them. So today I’m testing out some key products from Amazing Cosmetics, a line very popular among celebrity makeup artists, to find out how to ensure my face makeup lasts all day. Here’s what I’ve discovered:

1. Always use a Primer

Ah, primer. Does it really make a difference? It does! I’ll admit, I don’t use one everyday, but when I do, I truly notice my foundation stay put. I even notice that I don’t need to use as much foundation or concealer when I use a primer. Basically, a primer is the layer on which the rest of your makeup sits — sort of like your nail polish base coat. It creates a smooth service and latches on to the product better than your skin.

Since I’m already so in love with my foundation (I use bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel), I prefer to use a translucent primer. I recently tried Amazing Cosmetics Anti-Aging Primer and love how it literally blurs my skin and goes on super light! For best results, apply it with a liquid foundation brush.

2. Apply concealer after foundation

This is something I’ve heard before but didn’t quite realize the difference it makes. Basically, when you apply your foundation first, you end up needing much less concealer. And less layers of product means your makeup is more likely to last. So after applying my bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel, I used the Amazing Concealer and it seriously is amazing! Somehow it provides super strong coverage but still feels very light. I recommend swiping some product on with your finger or a concealer brush, then gently patting it into your skin with your fingers.

3. Apply setting powder before any other powder

Although I’ve recently started using a setting powder, apparently I’ve been applying it all wrong. I always used it at the end of my entire makeup routine, but for best results, you should apply it when you’re done with all of your liquid makeup. Here I’m using Amazing Cosmetics Velvet Mineral Powder with a big fluffy brush to set my liquid foundation and concealer. This stuff is what made the biggest difference in helping extend the lifespan of my face makeup! After that is when you can add your bronzer and blush.

The results are light, natural, and, best of all, they last ALL day!
