A Reminder To Love Yourself

A Reminder To Love Yourself

Do you ever feel like there’s two voices going on in your head? One that’s cheering you on, telling you everything’s fine, and the other totally stressing you out and piling on the pressure? Well today, I want you to try and tell that second voice to shut the f*ck up. That voice is just fear. It’s not productive in any way, and the more you can recognize that, the more you can let that positive voice shine through.

It took me a while to identify these two separate voices, but once I did, I realized I could choose which one I wanted to listen to. I think we’re all a little too hard on ourselves. We pile a lot on our plates and it doesn’t help to add on our own internal pressure. So I say, build that first voice up. Don’t try to quiet it down or make excuses that it’s unnecessary. Being nice to yourself, complimenting yourself, recognizing your positive attributes — I say this is all extremely necessary. I mean, who else is going to do that if not ourselves?

It’s overwhelmingly common to focus more on the negative than the positive. We list the things going wrong in our lives or things we’re struggling with, rather than recognizing all the great things going on too. Make sure you take the time to truly see those positive things in your life and let yourself revel in the happiness they bring you.

I’m currently driving cross country to California, not exactly by choice (my dog can’t fly), and definitely know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed by stress. I’m going to try my best to focus on all the good in this situation. I mean, how often do you get to do a cross country road trip with your dad? And end up in the best city on earth? I thought we could all use a little pick me up today.
