Yes or No: Ankle Boots at the Office?

Since ankle boots are my go to shoe at the moment, I keep running into the question of whether or not they’re office appropriate. At a more casual or creative work setting, I say they are definitely appropriate, but what about at your typical corporate office? My answer is still yes, as long as you know how to wear them.

The easiest type of ankle boot to match with your work wardrobe is the high heeled bootie. They’re less casual than the ones I’m wearing here and work great with pencil skirts and sheath dresses, where as lower heeled ankle boots are more difficult to pair with these business casual options (mostly because they’re not the most flattering option in terms of slimming your legs). Although they don’t work with your typical work wear, low heeled ankle boots can still be office appropriate. They are great for flowy dresses, A-line skirts, and you can even wear them with trousers – try ones that are cropped just above the ankle like these from J. Crew. I’d say the most difficult ankle boot to incorporate into your work wardrobe are those with no heel. They’re very casual, edgy, and I recommend saving those for your weekends.

So what do you think, yes or no to ankle boots at the office?
