After our high school prom and college formal years are over, it’s not until you get invited to your first wedding that you have the opportunity to get all dressed up again. And once this phase of weddings starts, they just keep on comin’. I’m not too mad about it considering I’ll find any excuse to pull out my favorite dresses that are typically hidden in a garment bag in the back of my closet!
It’s one thing to find an appropriate dress for a spring or fall wedding, but a winter wedding is another story. Wearing a cocktail dress in the middle of winter is pretty counterintuitive, but if the wedding isn’t a formal occasion where you can rely on a long dress to keep you warm, there’s not much else you can do. A midi dress like this lace number that I featured on my Instagram last week is a great option. Go for a rich, jewel tone for a winter-appropriate look, like this deep plum. To stay warm, try a long wool coat in a neutral color.

Love the dress and how it fits together with the coat just one thing… I just can’t put together a wool coat and strappy opentoe heels… in winter. :)
