Valentine’s Day Outfits for a Night with Friends or Your S.O.

Hi guys! I’m Chantelle from Bridge to Bohemia and I’m super excited to be styling and sharing a couple fun outfits for the upcoming holiday! When Amanda tasked me to style 2 different looks for Valentine’s Day, I jumped at the chance to showcase the versatility of what to wear.
Whether you’re hitting the town with girlfriends or heading on a romantic date with your significant other, Valentine’s Day is always a great excuse to get flirty. Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean you have to wear the one tight red dress you have hanging in the closet either. We gotta leave some room for all that chocolate! So here it is, my take on a V-day date with your man (or woman) vs. Galentine’s with your ladies.
LOOK 1: Date night with your S.O.
Ditch that bodycon mini dress for an equally alluring maxi (with cleverly placed florals nonetheless).
Personally, I feel far more comfortable in a bohemian maxi dress than a teeny tiny miniskirt. Anyone else? This Cleobella dress, with its plunging illusion neckline and appliqued floral details, is just as sexy as a perfectly fitting LBD. Honestly, I think more so; it’s fun to leave more to the imagination! Keeping that fun floral pop of color going, I added a tribal feeling clutch with it. Then, my go-to maroon Sam Edelman chunky heels to top it all off. They are the perfect comfy heel that boosts me up enough to effortlessly kiss my 6’5” man.
How to recreate it:
– Find a maxi dress with a sexy detail i.e. a plunging neckline, cleverly placed applique, or a sheer detailing.
– Add a handcrafted accessory that hints at a life well-traveled.
– Choose heels or flats but make a statement with color.
LOOK 2: Dinner with Friends
Add flirty pieces and a little edge to update a pleated midi skirt.
Midi skirts have become a staple in our daily work wardrobes, but they aren’t usually associated with a sexy night out on the town. My solution? Choose a more fashion-forward midi with a flirty bodysuit and create a look that’s both sexy and accessible. For my skirt choice, I chose this incredible animal print pleated midi from Cara Loren. I love that the print feels like an unexpected choice for such a conservative silhouette. Plus, that caramel + pink + black color combo = #love.
When hunting for your own fashionable midi, look for things like bright colors, unexpected prints, or interesting fabric choices like tulle, leather, or fringe. A fitted leather jacket not only added some edge, but also made sure I didn’t lose the shape of my waist. The final touch was a pair of nude heels, which is a must-have for every woman’s closet.
How to recreate it:
– Choose a midi skirt with a little something extra like an unexpected print, texture or color.
– Pair it with a flirty bodysuit.
– Add a leather jacket for extra edge.
– Add a nude heel to elongate your legs and make that midi skirt ultra flattering!
