There’s something about the laid back vibe and unique texture of distressed denim that makes me want to wear the trend constantly. From sleek white jeans with just a touch of distressing, to totally destroyed boyfriend jeans, the options are endless. The key is figuring out when the trend is appropriate and how to wear it without looking messy. So let’s walk through my three favorite kinds of distressed denim and how to wear them.
1. Distressed White Skinny Jeans
Perfect for: Casual Friday
While you may not ordinarily think ripped jeans could work in the office, a sleek white pair with just a bit of wear & tear can be perfect for Casual Friday. These DL1961 jeans are crisp and refined enough for the office (although perhaps not a conservative one) and dress down your office basics flawlessly. Plus they have tons of stretch which make them wearable all day. Add a linen blouse and a classic trench to keep the look work appropriate.

2. Distressed Boyfriend Jeans
Perfect for: Casual Brunch
My favorite kind of distressed denim has to be the washed-out boyfriend jean. This pair from DL1961 has a relaxed yet slim fit thats perfect for brunch on the weekends. The over-distressed look creates a unique texture that will make even the simplest of outfits pop. If you’re bored of the classic blouse & skinny jean combo, try mixing it up with some distressed boyfriend jeans. They’ll give the look an automatic update.

3. Distressed Raw Skinny Jeans
Perfect for: Casual Date
A fun way to dress up your ripped jeans? Try them on a casual date. Think drinks at a low-key bar or a picnic in the park. These DL1961 jeans are sexy and fitted, but still have that casual, cool-girl vibe. Create some contrast with a feminine top and espadrilles.

I have really loved the look of white denim in the past, just how you showed in your pictures, but after having kids I felt like I couldn’t really pull them off. Thankfully, I’m back to where I was before, and I will once more try to make them work. Thanks for the inspiration!

I’ve noticed a trend in women’s denim jeans that they like to have tears and holes in them. Is this for style reasons? I suppose it does add to the look rather than plain jeans. It’s just interesting that the damaged jeans are more valued.
