There’s nothing like pampering yourself to an at-home spa after a long, stressful day. While throwing on a mask or doing your nails every once in a while can feel good, I highly recommend taking some time to create a relaxing, spa setting that allows you to truly decompress. Follow these simple steps below to achieve that perfect at-home spa experience.
Step 1: Set the Mood
The first step in creating the ideal at-home spa is to set the mood. Grab lots & lots of candles and light the all over your apartment. Be sure to choose ones with calming smells like lavender or vanilla. Dim the lights (i.e. turn them off and leave on a lamp — let’s be honest, our apartments don’t have dimmers) and put on a calming playlist in the background.
Step 2: Prep the Bubble Bath
A must for any at-home spa experience? A bubble bath, of course! Make sure you have actual bubble bath as well as some soothing bath salts. Set up some of those candles around the tub as well. Yummy smelling soaps can help create that relaxing setting as well.
Step 3: Face Mask
The right face mask can make or break your spa experience. That may be a bold statement, but I actually truly believe that. You want a mask with the right texture and smell — one that you can glop onto your skin like in the movies. You also want one with a soothing smell. I found GLAMGLOW GRAVITYMUD to be the perfect product for the occasion. First of all, you get to paint it on your face with a brush, which makes it all the more fun. As you leave the mask on, it doesn’t get all crunchy and dry like many masks do, and taking it off is a dream. You literally just peel the whole thing off after 20-30 minutes and your skin is left feeling clean, soft, and firm.
Step 4: Drink Tea or Flavored Water
Make sure to pour yourself a cup of hot tea or flavored water. Hydrating at the spa is a necessity, so including it in your at-home routine will make the experience even better. I’ve been loving flavored water recently because it’s SO easy to make and looks gorgeous no matter what you use! Here I just dropped a few slices of lemon and a couple sprigs of rosemary into my water and the results were amazing!
Step 5: Mani Pedi
After the bath, let your face mask sink in while you treat yourself to a mani-pedi. (I prefer watching a little Netflix while I do this and curling up on the couch). If you’re normal and don’t enjoy giving yourself a manicure, try just doing the basics: soak your nails in warm water and bath salts, trim your nails, and buffer them. Smooth hands and cleaned-up nails feel just as a good!
