The Key to Taming Bed Head

If you’re not a morning person and tend to take your showers at night, then you know what it’s like to wake up with kinky cow-licked hair. Although I always blow dry the front of my hair (when I have bangs or not) when I get out of the shower, I must sleep like a maniac because, without a doubt, those front pieces are an absolute mess in the morning. So what’s a lazy girl to do when she doesn’t want to wake up an extra 30 minutes to shower and fix her bed head? This sneaky 3 step trick is my g0-to for taming wild morning hair. This is especially useful for those of you with bangs or shorter pieces in the front.

step1-2

Step 1

First off, grab a comb and smooth out the front of your hair. I don’t comb all of my hair because I tend to keep it wavy and I don’t want to lose those waves, but rather enhance them with a curling iron.

Step 2

Next, it’s time to straighten. Careful not to over straighten. You don’t want hairs sticking straight up and you want to keep it looking natural. I like to straighten the hair away from my face to keep some movement so it looks more natural. Use the straightener on your front pieces, bangs, and those little kinky pieces above your ears.

Step 3

Now this step is the key to keeping that natural look. Use a round brush and blow dry the front of your hair away from your face (yes, you’re blow drying hair that’s already dry). This will help blend the pieces you just straightened into the rest of your hair. Plus, it’s a great way to bring back some life and body into your locks, which straightening can often take away.

Spray with some light hairspray, style the rest of your hair as you’d like, and you’re good to go!
