Early fall can be a seriously confusing time when it comes to fashion. Everything in stores is for colder weather, but it’s typically too warm outside for a fall dress code. You try wearing ripped jeans and your new cable knit sweater, but end up sweating your balls off — not fun. To remedy this transitional weather, I suggest combining your versatile summer pieces with your versatile fall pieces to create a perfectly balanced early fall outfit.
Try a dress, for example. This Urban Outfitters dress could work for any season because of the fabric and neutral color. To make it fall appropriate, try adding a moto jacket. Choose something lightweight in a soft shade, like my new favorite from San Francisco designer J’Amy Tarr. The silhouette is perfect for colder weather, and you can roll up the sleeves and leave it open so you don’t get too hot. I also recommend swapping out your sandals for ankle boots. They literally make any outfit look fall ready and go with everything from dresses to jeans. (Plus, these Tibi boots are on major sale!)
