Holiday Party Outfit for the Girl Who Doesn’t Wear Red
posted on December 1, 2015 | by Amanda Holstein
The only thing I don’t like about the Holidays is the color scheme. Is that weird? I’ve just never been a fan of red or green, and the combo is one you’ll never find in my closet. So when it comes to picking out a festive holiday dress, I tend to go for something in my color palette of whites, grays, tans, and blues.
I’m also not one to buy a dress I can only wear for certain occasions, which is why stepping out of the red & green box makes more sense for me. Instead, I suggest looking for festive details like lace and metallic. When I came across this Free People dress, I knew I could make it holiday-ready and wear it all year round. (Also, it’s currently 50% off so you lucky ducks should snag it now!). I dressed it up by pairing it with some of my faves from Margaret Elizabeth: these Marquis Drop Earrings in Moonstone, their classic Teardrop Bangle in White Druzy, and this gorgeous Rimini Bangle in Labradorite.

I wouldn’t say that I have a problem with the holiday color scheme, but I definitely am not actively trying to wear it. I turn to black and gold dresses during the holidays when I’m dressing up!

Beautiful choice! I typically turn to black but you’ve done a marvelous job making blues, grays and lace look like the perfect holiday outfit!

I’m totally with you on red and green. That is like, my least favorite color combination in the world. You look so beautiful in this outfit! I mean it!

You look SO pretty Amanda! And I love seeing your new backdrop of SF! The gorgeous jewellery is the perfect accompaniment too.
I agree, you should stick to your own style year-round, holidays included. I actually like sequins etc MORE out of the festive season.
