Velvet is coming back with a vengeance and I’m not mad about it. Actually, I was sort of mad about it at first. It’s one of those 90s trends that I really didn’t think could come back in style. Yet somehow, today’s designers have made it work. (Sorry, I’ve been watching too much Project Runway.) Velvet is especially appropriate for winter occasions, like New Year’s Eve, because of its rich fabric and slight sheen.
I’m especially in love with this long velvet dress for New Year’s Eve. That color is just incredible, don’t you think? And the low neckline and back make it fun and flirty for ringing in the new year. (Plus it’s only $65!). I added this amazing choker necklace from gorjana to take that 90s theme to the next level. The hammered gold detail brings the decade into the present. To complete the look, I paired the dress with simple strappy heels and a fun textured clutch. If you’re looking for an edgier vibe this New Year’s Eve, give this outfit a try!
